Saturday Free Tee Days

The Management Board have agreed to extend Saturday Free Tee Days until the end of March 2025.

Local Rule for Winter Mats

Where present, artificial tee mats comprise the teeing area.  When starting a hole with an artificial mat in place, the player must stand on and play a ball from the mat.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE: Matchplay - Loss of Hole / Strokeplay - Two Stroke penalty

CGC Lottery

The December draw is taking place tomorrow in the clubhouse at 1.00pm.

Ready Golf

A reminder to play Ready Golf at all times.  Do not wait for the person furthest from the green or hole to hit if someone else is ready to play first.

The accepted etiquette is to call through groups behind who are playing faster, no matter how many players are in the group or whether there are other groups in front.

Tree Work

From Monday 6th January, a section of the car park to the left of the main entrance will be cordoned off while removal of various ivy covered horse chestnut trees takes place.

Winter League

The play by date for the group stages of the Winter League is Sunday 12th January.

Competitions Report

(Clive Hebden)

Colchester Golf Club Ladies celebrated their Club Christmas with the annual Christmas Cakewalk.

Dressed in their finest Christmas Sweaters led by the Ladies’  Captain Carol Irvine, it was all hands to the pumps for a team Stableford.

Emerging victorious were Roberta Bodsworth, Lisa Free, Caroline Chambers, and Nicola Allston, who triumphantly scored 60 points on the 14-hole course.

Special accolades went to Catherine Chick for her nearest the pin on the 8th hole and to Heather Dennis for her accuracy on the 16th. A festive day of camaraderie and competition, the Christmas Cakewalk continues to be a highlight of the ladies’ annual events.

Hot on their heels, just three points behind, were the formidable team of Sheila Dornan, Sue Patrick, Sameena Choudhry, and Amy Gibbons, securing second place with a total of 57 points.

The contest for third and fourth place was settled after a countback. The team of Philippa Deman, Trish Wilson, Heather Dennis, and Annie Johnston edged out their competitors Shelley Persent, Mandy Rix, Sharon Manby, and Robyn Holmes. Both teams scoring 54 points.

Course News

All winter tee mats are now out in place.

Ditch clearing continues and many thanks to the Tuesday volunteers who have done such a fantastic job on many areas of the course throughout the last few months.

The front part of the 15th green and the approach have had another round of oxyshotting to move moisture that has gathered there.

Yardage markers have been brought in and cleaned ready for painting.

The strength of the wind on Thursday was evident from the angle of the flag on the 1st green!

Upcoming Competitions

Entries for the Braiswick Cup, Mens Foursomes and Jubilee Cup are now open online.  Please note all competitions from 2025 will be played from the respective tees of the day.
