Lottery
The January draw will take place in the clubhouse tomorrow at 1.00pm.
New Members
If you have not collected your membership card and bag tag from the bar, please do so when you are next at the club. All members are reminded to clearly display their bag tag and up to date sticker at all times. 2024-25 stickers are available from the pro shop and the office.
Divots and Pitchmarks
If you use a trolley, please take a bag of divot mix out with you to repair any divots you find. Repairing divots and pitchmarks take very little time and really does help keep our course in great condition.
Ready Golf
A reminder that you do not have to wait for the person with the honour to play if you are ready. Please remember to keep up with the group in front and not in front of the group behind!

Colchester Golf Club’s Men’s Qualifying Winter Leagues have now been completed and the draw for the knockout stages has been made.
Starting last October 148 members played in pairs, playing four ball better ball in leagues, with two pairs playing off for the final place in the top 16. They are looking to follow in the footsteps of last year's winners, Sam Tarr & Joe Gilzean.
There were three teams this year who went through their leagues unbeaten, and congratulations go to Jake Hughes and Scott Strivens who play Lewis and Ben Barber in the knockout. Matthew and David Pope who have been drawn against Dan Bradley and Tom McNama were the second winning pair.
The third member of the trio were Mark Westall and Simon Smith who go on to play Nick and Finlay Sinclair.
The two pairs who are in the play-off are Mark Joel and David Boyden versus Ryan and Steve Sheffield. The winner of this match will play Duncan Turner and John Redden in the last sixteen Knockout.
The remaining pairs who qualified and are in the knockout are John and Jeff Waterson who play Joe Jackson and Donald Parish, Josh Eley and Ben Pudney against Karl Bartlett and Andrew Schofield and Andrew Archer and Paul French against Oliver Lovejoy and Joe Moore.
In the final pairing are Simon and Alex Rippingale versus multiple winners of this trophy, Iain Cruickshank and Ronnie Wilson.
Lisa Free (21) scoring 24 points won the ladies Three Clubs and a Putter competition just one point clear of two ladies scoring 23 each. Twenty-six handicapper Gillian Whittle getting the nod after a countback from Jenny McEvoy (15) with Ladies’ Captain Carol Irvine (29) taking fourth spot on 22 points.
The higher temperatures this week has removed the frost and allowed more progress to be made on the 4th tee. Over 80 wooden stakes have been installed by laser level to ensure the tee is level before it is turfed.
Dead and diseased silver birch trees on the 17th hole have been removed.
Warmer and drier conditions have enabled fairway mowing to take place. Greens have been hand mown.
Using a newer more powerful pump, the level of the 2nd pond was lowered by approximately two metres and drained into St Botolph's Brook to the left of the 6th hole. This enables us to retain the water by pumping it to the reservoir under our Abstraction licence. This is an on-going process and allows water to continue draining from the 2nd and 17th holes.
Thank you to all the members who collected the wood from the car park and made a donation to the Captains' Charity. If you have not yet done so, collection boxes are in the clubhouse or you can donate online here.
