Darren Kerr constructed an impressive round of 36 to win the latest Walk on Stableford.
On a day which started with a frost, making the greens tricky with parts of them frozen and parts super receptive. Kerr's round had his fellow competitor's in awe.
Not that he started well. He opened with a double but clawed one shot back with a birdie on the fifth. Turning on a handicap equalling 18 points he failed to score on the eleventh but proceeded to birdie the 14th and 15th . Bogeys on the last two holes did not worry him and again he recorded a handicap equalling 18 points on the back nine to make up his 36 points.
The Walk on Stablefords are proving to be a focal point of Sunday golf at Colchester with all sections of the Club participating as evidenced by second placed Sameena Choudhry who was placed second with 35 points from her fifty-one handicap, Forty-five shots different from Kerr's.
Edward Shanklyn (14) on 33 points took second place with nine handicapper Matt Black mirroring his score but losing out on countback.
All the greens have been ironed. This will particularly aid the greens which have been oxyshot and smooth out any high areas that the procedure may have created.
Woodland management has continued on the 2nd, 14th and 17th holes. There are more dead and diseased silver birches around the course in line to be felled.
The 4th tee renovation continues with rootzone being applied and levelled.
Machine servicing has taken place when conditions have restricted outdoor work.
