Following the success of the first Book Club yesterday evening the next is scheduled for Wednesday 19th March. There is still time to read ‘In Memoriam’ by Alice Winn and book your place. The combination of Interesting conversations and a delicious meal served up by CGC made it a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We hope to see you at the next meet up.

500 Club February Draw
On Sunday, in the presence of several members enjoying a post Texas Scramble pint, the February draw was made.
The following lucky members won £100 each: Michael Potter, Claire Croger, Simon Welling and Paul Chapman.
Duncan Turner, Peter Holmes, Robert Potter, Geoff Earnshaw, Jon Flaherty and Richard Shackell all won £50 each. Congratulations!
The next draw will take place in April and if you would like to be in it, please contact me, Pat Kettle at patkettle51@gmail.com for details.
I would also like to hear from any members with ideas on how best to spend the proceeds on projects to benefit the Club.
One such suggestion is to contribute towards a path round the side of the pond on the second hole. Thoughts please?

In a Texas Scramble, Mel Barker, Paul Luckman and Bob Tebby took the top spot in the weekend competition.
The winning team returned 57 points off a team handicap of ten, on a cold bright morning the winners were two shots ahead of their nearest rivals in this novel competition. Having a break from the recent Stableford weekend competitions the Club had added this team competition to encourage the membership to ease their way back into the golf season.
In this respect it worked as nearly 90 members took part in this popular format.
The closest teams to the winners were two trios, scoring 59 points. Adjudged second after the countback were Jon Flaherty, Darren Kerr and Daniel Rees (4) having pipped the team of Nicola Allston, Will Reinhardt and Mark Schofield playing off nine into third place.
In fourth place after a countback were Michael Golzey, Adam Miller and Stuart Watson playing off seven.
Last Tuesday, despite it being a miserable damp morning, the ladies were able to get a competition in, they played in a fun Waltz in 3’s over 14 Holes.
It was won with 48pts by Nesta James (19), Gillian Whittle (23) and Penny Allen (37).
Their nearest rivals were Romany Foster (18), Jenny Rose (20) and Sue Patrick (31) with 39 points on count back from Catherine Chick (19), Annie Johnston (13) and Carol Irvine (26) who claimed 3rd place.
The Juniors were also able to play their Valentine's Stableford, which was won by George Woodhead who plays off scratch, with an excellent 37 points in difficult ground conditions.
Stan Smith (1) was second with 35 points just beating Michael Bender (7) after a countback. In fourth spot a further point back was Oliver Way who plays off 13.
This picture was taken on the 12th hole on Monday morning. There is no excuse for not raking a bunker after your shot and especially when the rake is in close proximity.
